I have read most of your books and find them hugely enjoyable, moving, informative and though provoking, full of the thirst for emancipation and hope. They are very refreshing to read and outshine most of the pompous and pretentious writings we sometimes find in academic leftist writings. However, I wonder why you rarely reference or reflect upon the writings of Raoul Vaneigem? The subjective revolutionary romanticism of Vaneigem is, I feel closer to your writings than Debord’s. I may be wrong, but carry on along your unique furrow anyway. I’m in my sixties and still try and keep the flame going, but rarely find much in leftist writings which seems genuinely lived and passionate. Keep going….

    Dear Andy,

thank you so much for writing “The wisdom of donkeys” in which I find every sentence is a piece of art in itself. You have such a beautiful way to describe. And I love the way you see donkeys. My dream for a long time has been to adopt two donkeys that have suffered from deprivation, keep them on a lush meadow, sitting there having breakfast whilst they’re are grazing or whatever they’re doing and just looking at them and observing.

Your book is like balm for my soul.

    Best wishes
    Madlen

    Dear Andy,
A friend recommended The Wisdom of Donkeys, and I am so glad that she did. I loved getting to know Grenuille and donkeys in general, and I felt that I was on your journey with you, traveling at the donkey’s pace through Southern France. I have recommended it to my book club, and I look forward to the upcoming discussion. I, too, have seen the donkeys in Morocco and Egypt, and how important they are to everyday life in both places.
Thank you for this beautiful book. I look forward to reading more of your work.
    Jo Beth,
    Santa Fe
